Hard Drive Installation Instructions for the Nitro AN517-54

The Nitro AN517-54 includes a storage bay that allows for installation of a secondary 2.5″ SATA 7mm hard drive. Use the steps below to install a secondary drive in your system. Note:  Acer recommends use of an anti-static wrist strap when adding hardware to your system. 1) Remove the AC adapter and make sure your system is completely powered off. 2) Remove the twelve (12) screws securing the lower case to the upper case.

3) Starting from the upper side, pry to release the upper side latches, following the direction arrow.

4) Work your way around the lower case to continue releasing the remaining latches, then remove the lower case.

5) Connect the hard drive cable to the hard drive module connector.  

6) Align and install the hard drive module into its slot on the upper case.  

7) Attach the four (4) screws to secure the hard drive module to the upper case. ( Screw torque force = 1.8~2.2kgf.cm)  

Connect the hard drive cable to the mainboard connector and secure the latch.

9) Align and install the lower case on the upper case starting with the bottom side first.

10) Press firmly the side latches until they snapped into place.

11) Install the twelve (12) screws to secure the lower case. (Screw torque force = 2.55~3.0kgf.cm)

Windows 11: How to Upgrade to Windows 11

How do I upgrade to Windows 11? The upgrade to Windows 11 is distributed using Windows 10 Update & Security settings. This update will be released in phases to eligible Windows 10 systems, so you may not get it on the first day of release. To get in line for the update, follow the instructions below. Click on Start ⊞ and select  Settings ⚙. Choose  Update & security . Click on  Windows Update , then select  Check for updates and install all of the updates. Once your copy of Windows 11 is ready, it will begin downloading and will install automatically.

How long does it take to install Windows 11? Downloading and installing Windows 11 will most likely take longer than a typical Windows 10 feature update. You can use your computer while you are downloading Windows 11 and then you have the option to schedule the install to happen at a specific time when you are not planning on using your computer.

Accessory Compatibility with Windows 11

Will my accessories work with Windows 11? If your accessories worked with Windows 10 and they meet the Windows 11 requirements, they should work with Windows 11. However, it is impossible to do compatibility tests with all the accessories that are on the market. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that all Windows 10 accessories work with Windows 11.

Waiting with Upgrading to Windows 11

Can I continue to use Windows 10 and not upgrade to Windows 11? You do not have to upgrade to Windows 11 yet. You can continue to use Windows 10 until October 14, 2025. Past that date, Microsoft will no longer support Windows 10.

Windows 11 Upgrade Disk Space Requirements

Does Windows 11 take up more space on my computer than Windows 10? Windows 11 and Windows 10 require approximately the same amount of disk space. However, during the upgrade process extra space is required. Windows will clean up this extra disk space about 10 days after the upgrade is complete.

Windows 10 Pro Edition to Windows 11 Pro Edition in S Mode If your Windows 10 computer is running the Pro edition in S mode, you will need to switch out of S mode to upgrade to Windows 11 Pro. How to Show Hidden Files in Windows 10 and 11

There are several files on your Windows PC that are hidden by default. This is typically done to prevent the accidental deletion of important data and system files, as that could cause problems. You can change the visibility status of these files easily through your File Explorer on both Windows 10 and 11, however, be careful of what you delete as that could cause negative side effects.  Steps to display hidden files on Windows 11   Open File Explorer from the taskbar.  Select View > Show > Hidden items .  Done, you should now be able to see all files in your Windows 11 File Explorer.  Steps to display hidden files on Windows 10   Open the File Explorer from the taskbar.  Select View > Options > Change folder and search options .  Select the View tab, and then in Advanced settings , select Show hidden files, folders, and drives and select OK .  Done, you should now be able to see all files in your Windows 10 File Explorer. 

Not Meeting Minimum Requirements for Windows 11 Upgrade

What if my computer does not meet the minimum hardware specifications? Can I stay on Windows 10? If your computer does not meet the minimum hardware requirements, you cannot upgrade to Windows 11. Fortunately, you can continue to use Windows 10 until October 14, 2025. Microsoft has committed to supporting Windows 10 until then.

Aspire Switch 10 and Switch 11 camera does not work after Windows 10 upgrade

Click on Start ⊞ and select Settings ⚙ , or use Windows + I to quickly open Settings . Select Privacy & security in the left pane, then click Windows Security . Click on Open Windows Security to open the Windows Security app in a dedicated window. In the Windows Security home screen, click on Virus & threat protection . Click on Manage settings to reconfigure Windows Security on Windows 11. Click the toggle to turn Real-time protection to Off . This will temporarily disable Windows Security on your Windows 11 computer. To re-enable Windows Security, click the toggle to turn Real-time protection back to On . Note: Disabling Microsoft Security is temporary and your computer will turn it back on automatically if it has been disabled for too long.
