I had the same problem as you with a 2019 27” iMac with Windows 10 (1809) on external SSD with no sound to speakers or headphones. After a lot of Google searches I started to suspect a problem with the High Definition Audio Device (not the AMD one, if you have one) in the Device Manager (Sound, video and game controllers) due to it using a standard Microsoft driver. One search result mentioned replacing the driver with the one in the Cirrus folder from the BootCamp drivers (WindowsSupport/$WinPEDrivers$). After confirming the driver in the Cirrus folder is a High Definition Audio driver, I did an update of the driver in Device Manager and pointed it at the Cirrus folder for the location. I got confirmation that the install was successful and the sound started working (no reboot).

I had assumed that running setup (more than once in my case) in the WindowsSupport folder would install all the drivers necessary, but clearly I was wrong.

Hope this helps

  • Sound not working under Windows 10
    Hi
I installed windows 10 using boot camp and the audio is not working at all under windows.
I have an iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017) and in the System Report the Audio device manufacturer is specified as Apple and little else.
The boot camp driver folder does have an AppleAudio folder and in there it looks very much like a driver.
However Windows does not like this driver. I tried to point windows exactly at this location but Windows insists the content in this folder is simply not a suitable audio driver.
    Any ideas?

  • Audio under bootcamp
I have an iMac with a bootcamp partition. Both Mac and windows sides are working perfectly except that there is no audio on the windows side («no speakers or headphone are plugged in»). Oddly the problem is completely resolved if I restart to windows from the mac side either by:
Restarting in windows from Startup Disk Preference on the mac side
Selecting the boot camp volume in the startup manager (by holding the option/alt key on restart)
Otherwise, the sound never works if I allowing the computer to restart into windows. Somehow the mac side has to have control of the boot to windows for sound to work

Audio not working on Windows 10 installed on external SSD running on iMac

Сейчас купил iMac 2020 27′ (MXWV2RU/A).

Question: Q: MacBook Pro Audio Driver

Which audio driver is used by MacBook Pro 7.1. I’m running BootCamp (Windows7 Ultimate x64) and I’m having a problem with audio input, so I’m looking for anything taht will make it work.

In Device Manager I had «Cirrus CS4206A (AB13)» and three devices of «NVIDIA High Definition Audio». Then somehow I updated Cirrus driver to «High Definition Audio», but Audio-IN is not working, only Audio-OUT (The same thing with Cirrus). Just to mention, my MB is using only one «multi» audio jack.

I can’t contact Cirrus Support, because on their website it’s written:

We produce integrated circuits that manufacturers design into their audio and video products. We do not manufacture graphics cards, sound cards or modems.

Your retail manufacturer is responsible for your product support. Please contact your manufacturer or visit your manufacturer’s Web site for driver support.

These generic drivers may have been modified by the electronics manufacturer to suit a particular product. We recommend that you contact your product’s manufacturer for support.

I contacted Apple Support (Chat) and the person I got on the chat is a noob! He told me to uninstall BootCamp or whole Win7. And he gave me a link to Microsoft Support. So, nothing really helpful, he just bumped me to Microsoft.

When I install Realtek HD Audio Driver/Codec there are no changes and no Audio Manager running!!

You can download the drives to a USB2 flash drive and Boot Camp: Install or repair Boot Camp drivers.

If you have used anything other than a standard BC Assistant to install Windows, you will run into audio and GPT issues. For example using Windows EFI Boot will not work properly.

Question: Q: No Audio Output Device Installed Early 2011 Macbook Pro Windows 8 Boot Camp

As the title says, I have recently installed Windows 8 Pro on my Macbook Pro using boot camp. Everything is running flawlessly except for no audio. In device manager, the high definition audio controller appears with a yellow exclamation point. In properties, it says This device cannot start. (Code 10). I have tried almost everything. I tried installing new Intel Drivers, new Cirrus drivers, new Realtek drivers, updating the EFI, uninstalling boot camp drivers and reinstalling them. Any ideas?

Windows 8 is only suppoorted on iMac (27-inch, Mid 2010 or Mid 2011 or newer).

Also, you are hijacking.

I have a Macbook 8,1 (late 11?) and got w8 working just fine! Every piece of hardward works ok.

I choose w8 32, but bootcamp grabs the latest, which are 64. If that’s you case, here is the download for x86 drivers:

I’ve used a little freeware app called Brigadier to locate the proper package.

Jul 27, 2013 3:03 PM

Old info possible but. may work with Windows 8 or have new drivers (definitely), shame that Boot Camp 5.x package leaves things out still I guess.

Cirrus
— Установить один или два драйвера CS4206 или/и CS4208
— В устройствах воспроизведения появится Cirrus Logic и звук начнёт функционировать
— Наконец то можно запустить установщик BootCamp и будет вам счастье, все функции должны работать

The thing I can’t understand is — Is MacBook Using Realtek Audio, stupid Cirrus or NVIDIA Audio .

I mean who else is using stupid Cirrus -Citrus- s**t. I tought I bought good laptop for my job, but this is not usable for me in this situation.

Anyone can help?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1), 13inch ; Core2Duo ; 4GB RAM ; NVIDIA 320M

all these drivers support Windows 7, 32 bit

* drivers that support Windows 7, 32 and 64 bit

You can download the drives to a USB2 flash drive and Boot Camp: Install or repair Boot Camp drivers.

If you have used anything other than a standard BC Assistant to install Windows, you will run into audio and GPT issues. For example using Windows EFI Boot will not work properly.
