Dell is a Multinational Company that deals in developing and selling of computer related products. It is one of the largest PC product companies in the world. Dell has been named after its founder, Micheal Dell who is also the current CEO of the company.
Dell was purely a hardware vendor until 2009, then it acquired Perot Systems. This marked the beginning of Dell becoming the all-in-one IT Solutions company that it is today. The company further expanded into networking and storage to become the go-to company for commercial clients.
Dell is also known for its build-to-order” or “configure to order” for professional users and companies. It provides excellent service to its commercial clients and high end users. The company also acquired EMC to focus on the needs of its commercial clients for data storage, servers and other products and services.
Dell has a software for their commercial clients called Dell Command. The software provides updates for all your PC components. The application simplifies the process of updating your Motherboard’s BIOS, system firmware and drivers. Dell Command can also be used to download drivers for your system after the application has identified your system hardware. The application also has a feature called Dell I Cloud Repository Manager which allows the user to create a repository about when the system has been updated. You can also download the app’s complete user guide from here.

Using Dell Command | Update
Dell Command Update is a tool provided by Dell to ensure that drivers and firmware are up-to-date on Dell manufactured computers. University IT professionals can use this to ensure all drivers and firmware are current after an OS reinstall or as a troubleshooting step to eliminate the aforementioned issues.
Dell Command Update is preferred over SupportAssist in enterprise environments utilizing custom OS images because it establishes a baseline library based on device IDs (see Advanced Driver Restore below). This allows the software to «fix» issues related to malfunctioning drivers and undetected devices. SupportAssist will only detect driver updates if the device is already installed and functioning with an older driver; it does not have the ability to detect «unseen» devices or devices that were never installed properly in the first place.
Installing and Running Dell Command Update
Open Control Panel > Bitlocker Drive Encryption > Suspend Protection before running Dell Command Update.
Bitlocker Encryption must be suspended prior to running Dell Command Update or the program will not update BIOS and other firmware.
First Run ONLY
Advanced Driver Restore must be run the first time you use the program or you may not receive all updates. T he function loads a base driver CAB file to provide device IDs for all internal devices. Once complete, you can reboot, open Dell Command Update, and run a Check. With All Device IDs in place, it will pull all the latest drivers.
