Post by orangemittens on Nov 8, 2020 13:09:43 GMT -5Hi all, Studio is updating today with a batch fix for custom windows and doors that were broken by the Star Wars patch. The Windows and Mac versions both have this new feature. For creators, each version also has a feature that allows you to fix the cutout on any new creation by clicking Tools/Modding/Generate Model Cutout From Wall Cutout Texture after you’re finished importing your new wall cutout texture. Please read the notes below. Select your version of Studio to download HERE Notes: When the batch fix runs, it will create a backup folder containing the original version of all files it fixed. Please do not discard this file until you verify that your windows and doors are functioning properly in the game. If you encounter a window or door that did not fix properly, please send us the original and the broken batch-fixed versions so the problem can be investigated. The game has a small glitch with some round windows that causes a subtle line to appear at the edge of such windows when no wallpaper is on the wall in which the window is placed and the wall is facing a certain direction. EA windows do this too, so this is not a problem with the batch fixer, it’s a game “feature.” You will not notice this line once wallpaper is applied to the wall. Running the batch fix on a window or door will cause a new resource to appear in the Warehouse view of that file. This resource records the batch fix version that was applied to the file. If you add new broken windows or doors to the same folder in which this file is placed and run the batch fix again, this resource allows Studio to skip over this file instead of fixing it again. This batch fix took quite awhile to complete because of the immense variety of doors and windows created by our community. Andrew deserves kudos for sticking with this project even when, at times, it seemed impossible to complete. |

So I know it’s been a while since I did any proper Sims 4 content! I think the last time may actually have been when I was working on drafts for our house’s living room and kitchen. But let me just say—there’s been a darn good reason.
After the Star Wars patch that EA rolled out, something happened to pretty much every custom content door and window out there that caused them to clip improperly, making it pretty much impossible to build with them.
Because I’m such a sucker for CC build items (I can’t honestly tell you the last time I built something with base game doors or windows), it was disheartening to say the least.
I spent a while digging around, and kept seeing posts from creators who were considering the possibility of having to patch every single item they’d made. And well, I’d thought the idea of having to install it all again would be daunting—I hadn’t considered that side of it.
So I left off with building, because if I couldn’t have my CC, then I wasn’t going to build.
It wasn’t until recently that I decided I’d try again.
A couple weekends ago, Shane and I were talking about the basement reno we want to do.
That conversation came up because he’s gotten into selling Pokémon cards lately—he got some packs for Christmas that ended up containing a pretty-much-perfect M Charizard EX card that I laughed about because he’s been watching a YouTuber who freaks out every time he pulls the card, but then Shane told me how much it was worth and let’s just say I stopped laughing pretty quickly.
Anyway.
That got him thinking about selling cards, and it got me thinking about house reno possibilities. Which meant it was time to try again with the Sims 4 and my ill-fated CC.
As it turns out, it’s a good thing I waited because there’s a relatively easy fix now.
Sims 4 Studio: The magical fix for all my CC problems
If you’ve never used Sims 4 Studio before (I hadn’t), it’s the software most CC makers use to create and recolour items. It’s a pretty cool project, actually, and I didn’t realize it was free to use!
It’s also useful just for people who use CC rather than make it because it has a lot of options for fixing and managing your content for you. Which brings us to CC doors and windows.
Back in November, the creators of Sims 4 Studio released a new tool that could essentially run a batch fix on any and all CC windows and doors that were broken because of the Star Wars patch. Which means that if you installed it and ran the batch fix, it would spot any window and door files in your Sims 4 Mods folder and make sure they clipped properly again.
It actually seemed pretty straightforward: Once you had Sims 4 Studio installed, all you had to do was go to:
Content Management > Batch Fixes > Objects > Fix Windows and Doors (Star Wars Patch)
There were some pretty nice other batch fixes I saw in there too, including fixing the ever-frustrating disappearing bathtub problem!
Now, it’s worth noting that because all your mods are local files, you will need to run this fix for yourself. And obviously because it’s DIY and you, like I, might have absolutely zero experience with this, I figured I’d share a few things I learned on the way.
If you get an error code, try temporarily disabling your antivirus.
I…hate that I just had to say that. I am a nut for online security (just ask Shane about my reaction whenever Google wants information I don’t believe it needs), so I am always super wary of anything that tells me I need to turn off protective settings.
I’m not sure if it’s just my particular program, but apparently there’s a known issue at least with AVG that will block Sims 4 Studio from accessing its own log files—which will then prevent it from doing anything vaguely useful.
I haven’t found a permanent fix yet, but after three reinstalls and a lot of digging in the support forum, I decided to try that just for the one-time sake of fixing my windows and it seems to have worked. And don’t forget to turn it back on after!
Make sure you have lots of time.
If it’s your first time using Sims 4 Studio, it will want to log everything you have. And I mean everything. I finally got the program running at about 9 a.m., and by 10:30 it was almost done indexing everything from my expansion packs. And that was before even running the batch fix.
Be sure you have time (or can leave your computer running, but I don’t recommend that if you had to turn off your antivirus) so it can index everything before you run the batch fix.

Ever since the release of The Sims 4’s update during the release of Star Wars Game Pack people have reported visual clipping issues with Custom Content Doors and Windows. The issue basically persisted for all CC Doors and Windows that were made public before the release of the latest patch. Some of the CC creators even had to go through their entire catalog of custom Doors and Windows to fix this visual glitch. However, the solution to batch fix all of this has just been released by the talented folks behind Sims4Studio!

The latest Sims4Studio update now has an option to Batch-Fix the entire catalog of your CC Doors and Windows that you have in your Mods folder. This tool will automatically fix all that CC content without having to redownload the updated versions that CC creators might’ve released.

[FIXED] Doors windows and arches clipping in mirror reflections
Windows and doors reflections are not working in mirror
Windows and doors show a normal wall when seen in a mirror.
Only the frames are visible if they are thicker than the wall.
So this looks poorly and makes no logic.

How to Fix Doors and Windows in Wall Openings?
Do you need to remove the ads? Become VIP Member
Doors and windows are among the essential elements of a building from security, functional, and aesthetic point of view. Proper fixing of doors and windows in wall openings is vital as faulty installation could compromise the safety of the building.
In this article, the procedure of fixing of doors and windows with lugs, screws, and bolts is described in detail along with the method for fixing doors and windows in wooden and steel openings.
1. Fixing Doors and Windows with Lugs
- The doors, windows, and ventilator units shall not be “built-in” as the work proceeds but openings shall be left out and the frames should be installed afterward so that the minimum specified clearance is left between the opening and unit frame. The size of the opening shall be checked and cleared of obstructions.
- The size of the opening shall be checked and cleared of obstruction.
- The position of holes shall be marked on the jamb, and the holes shall be made in the masonry.
- The size of the lugs shall not be less than 10 cm in length, 15 mm in width, and 3 mm in thickness.
- The frames of units shall be temporarily fixed in the wall openings with the use of wooden wedges at the jamb, head, and sill.
- The door or window frame shall be fixed with the lugs with 20 mm long and 6.3 mm diameter G. I. countersunk machine screws and nuts.
- In the case of the flush opening, wedges shall be removed, and the gap between the unit and the jambs shall be filled with cement mortar, as shown in figure 1.
- In the case of flush jamb with external “fair-faced” finish, the gap shall be filled with mastic from inside till it oozes out on the external face in the gap between the unit and the jambs.
- The oozing mastic shall be cleaned and flush pointed. The gap in the internal side shall be filled with mastic to about 1/3 rd depth and the rest with cement mortar, as shown in Figure-1.
- In case of rebated jambs finished “fair-faced” externally, to ensure a watertight joint, the mastic shall be applied to the inside channel of the jamb, frame, and sill.
- After the unit is firmly fixed in position, surplus mastic shall be cleaned and flush pointed, as shown in Figure-1.
2. Fixing with Screws and Plugs
In R. C. C works, where lugs cannot be embedded due to reinforcement bars, etc. rawl plugs or other approved metallic fasteners may be fixed in proper position and the frame fixed to them with 60 mm galvanized wood screws of designation 10.
3. Fixing in Wood Work Opening
- Opening in woodwork is generally rebated, and approved rubber linings or mastic shall be applied to the sill, jambs, and channel before fixing in position.
- The frame shall be set in the opening with wooden wedges and fixed in the masonry openings with 60mm galvanized wood screws of designation 10.
- To match the adjoining work, extra timber fillets of hardwood shall be provided around the frame to close the extra gap between openings and frames.
4. Fixing in Steel Work Opening
- Before placing the unit frame in a position, approved mastic shall be applied as specified, and a mild steel or hardwood fillet shall be provided around the frame to close the extra gap between opening and frame.
- The unit shall then be fixed to the opening with fixing clips or with nuts and bolts, as shown in the drawings or as directed by the engineer.
5. Fixing of Composite Units
- Where large units shall be formed by coupling individual units together (with coupling sections), the mullions and transom shall be bedded in mastic to ensure water tightness.
- Mastic shall be applied liberally to the channels of the outside frame sections before assembly and after coupling.
- Any mastic oozing out shall be cut out neatly.
Precautions for Fixing Doors and Windows
- Proper care shall be taken that steel doors and windows etc. are not deformed/damaged during subsequent constructions.
- Special care shall be taken that scaffolding does not rest on the steel door window frames or glazing bars.
- All fittings and hinges (projecting hinges) shall be protected, preferably with alkaline sheets, to protect from damage during execution of work.
The lugs shall not be less than 10 cm long 15 x 3 mm size fixed in cement concrete blocks of size 15 x 10 x 10cm.
The frame shall be set in the opening with wooden wedges and fixed in the masonry openings with 60mm galvanized wood screws of designation 10.
Proper care shall be taken that steel doors and windows are not deformed/damaged during subsequent constructions.
Special care shall be taken that scaffolding does not rest on the steel door window frames or glazing bars.
All fittings and hinges (projecting hinges) shall be protected, preferably with alkaline sheets, to protect from damage during execution of work.

Just grab the door and press H. It fixes

Doors and windows will do that if you place them with move objects on. Clicking on it and replacing it fixes it. There was an issue with cc doors and windows though after they gave us the ability to alt place them, that’s probably you’re issue. See if the creator updated their content for that patch. You can also fix it with the s4s as someone else mentioned

New in version 3.1.5.5:
Added support for the Industrial Loft, Incheon Arrivals, and Fashion Street Kits
Added the new Nails categories to CAS
Added a temporary batch fix for the chair/barstool issue from the March 2022 patch. NOTE: This will remove all custom chairs from saved games, but they will work again once you re-buy them.
There is also a cheat code available to test that will update your save games so that the fixed chairs do not disappear from the game. If you do decide to try this, please do not delete the backup of your save game that is generated. If you want to try this, press Ctrl+Shift+C in Sims 4 Studio and enter «chairfix.savegames.update» without quotes. This will launch the batch fix window that will fix the save games. This cheat code is a test. Please do not delete the save game backup that Studio made before checking the integrity of your saved games if you run this cheat.
Added support for the Kits (Bust the Dust, Throwback Fit, and Country Kitchen)
Studio has added a batch fix that will update all CC makeup that currently is not working with the makeup slider system EA recently added.
The batch fix will also allow batch fixed eyeliners to work with the saturation slider and fixed blushes to work with the hue slider. Thank you to Feyona for this excellent idea and for testing the batch fix through several versions.
The pic below shows original blush and eyeliner in the left two images and modified versions of the same items after applying the in-game sliders (including hue and saturation) on the right.
Please note, this batch fix takes time to run, and the more items in the folder you run it on, the longer it will take. If you have a lot of makeup in one folder, you may want to start the batch fix when you’re done using your game for the day (i.e. let it run overnight).
Added support for the LRLE image format (used by CAS makeup, skin tones, etc.) and a tools option to convert existing images in a package. Much thanks to tau534 and CmarNYC for reverse-engineering the format.
LRLE images can be imported as PNG or as an uncompressed DDS with mip maps (see settings below in Paint.NET, GIMP, and Photoshop).
