Разбираемся

  1. Это фирменная программа компании HP, то есть она уже может быть спокойно установлена на только что купленном ноутбуке или ПК HP.
  2. Значок этого приложения может быть в панели управления Windows, которую легко открыть таким способом: зажмите Win + R, далее вставьте control иди control panel и кликните ОК.
  3. Но зачем нужна эта программа? Она предоставляет функции безопасности, которые помогают защитить ноутбук от несанкционированного доступа.
  4. На самом деле программа имеет сомнительную пользу, хоть и связанная с безопасностью. Например она может изменить некоторые опции биоса — включить или отключить последовательный/параллельный порт, карту памяти SD, привод CD-ROM, флоппи-дисковод, активировать функцию загрузки по сети.
  5. Присутствуют настройки безопасного входа в систему.
  6. Поддержка Activate Drive Encryption.
  7. Работа с пользователями — добавление, удаление, просмотра состояния.
  8. Просмотр параметров шифрования.
  9. Инструмент создания сложных паролей.
  10. Функция полного шифрования жесткого диска. Включает проверку подлинности перед запуском ПК.

РЕКЛАМА

Это только некоторые опции. Мое мнение — если вы обычный пользователь, купили себе ноут производителя HP чтобы просто смотреть веб-сайты, фильмы, играть в простенькие игры, то эту программу можно удалить. Это не драйвера и не критически важное ПО.

Простая инструкция деинсталляции приложения

  1. Зажмите клавиши Win + R, вставьте команду appwiz.cpl, нажмите ОК.
  2. Откроется окно установленного софта.
  3. Находим в списке HP ProtectTools Security Manager, нажимаем правой кнопкой > выбираем Удалить.
  4. Следуем инструкциям на экране, обычно нужно нажимать Далее/Next/Удалить/Uninstall.

Окно, где можно удалить программу — правый клик по названию и выбираем Удалить. Дальше просто следуем инструкциям.

В крайнем случае если что — приложение можно спокойно скачать с официального сайта HP (на форуме есть ссылка представителя).

По этой картинке видим — утилита функционирует под процессом PTHost.exe (точнее это один из процессов).
Отключение некоторых опций в биосе. Судя по оформлению программы — она существует уже давно, была еще во времена Windows XP.

Каждый раз, когда я запускаю свой новый ноутбук HP ProBook 420g0, выскакивает приложение настройки безопасности клиента HP, запрашивающее у меня пароль, «SpareKey», отпечатки пальцев и т.д. (См. Скриншот ниже).

Но я не хочу ничего такого прямо сейчас в данном конкретном случае. Можно ли отключить автоматический запуск этого приложения? Я не смог найти соответствующую запись в обычных списках запуска системы. Я не хотел бы удалять приложение, так как я могу использовать его позже.

  1. Запустите диалоговое окно « Конфигурация системы », запустив программу msconfig.exe. (Вы можете найти его, набрав «msconfig» в меню «Пуск».)

  2. Нажмите на вкладку услуг в верхней части окна.

  3. найти и снять галочку «Цифровая Персона» по услугам.

  4. Нажмите OK и перезагрузите машину. HP Client Security будет отключен и неактивен.

Запустите HP Client Security -> Менеджер паролей -> Администрирование -> Консоль администрирования -> Повышение безопасности системы: отключите безопасность входа в Windows.

Я знаю, что этот вопрос старый и имеет принятый ответ, но я нашел альтернативное решение для переименования файлов. С этим пакетом HP сложно разобраться, и удалить его может быть сложно.

Отключение службы HP ProtectTools

  1. Нажмите Ctrl+Alt+Del и выберите «Диспетчер задач».
  2. Перейдите на вкладку «Услуги» и выберите «hpqwmiex» без кавычек в списке.
  3. Нажмите «Открыть службы» и щелкните правой кнопкой мыши тот же заголовок в окне «Службы».
  4. Нажмите «Свойства».
  5. Нажмите раскрывающееся меню «Тип запуска» и выберите «Отключено».
  6. Нажмите «Стоп» в разделе «Статус услуги».
  7. Найдите HP ProtectTools в меню «Службы» и настройте его таким же образом. Это должно отключить HP ProtectTools и не запускать его при запуске.

Удаление HP ProtectTools

  1. Зайдите в Control Panel > Programs выберите Programs and Features , затем выберите Uninstall a program .
  2. Выберите HP ProtectTools Security Manager из списка программ.

HP Client Security очень трудно удалить! Я бы порекомендовал поиграться с настройками, прежде чем пытаться от него избавиться.

Я нашел способ решить эту проблему (не слишком красивый, но работающий) — переименовать файл c:Program Files (x86)Hewlett-PackardHP ProtectTools Security ManagerBinDPClientWizard.exe . Every time I start my new HP ProBook 420g0 laptop the HP client security setup application pops up asking me to set up a password, «SpareKey», fingerprints etc (see the screenshot below).

But I don’t want anything of this right now in this particular case. Can I disable this application from starting up automatically? I couldn’t find a corresponding record in usual system start-up lists. I wouldn’t like to remove the application as I may want to use it later.

  1. Launch the System Configuration dialog by running the program
    msconfig.exe. (You can find it by typing «msconfig» in the start
    menu search.)

  2. Click on the services tab at the top of the window.

  3. find and uncheck «Digital Persona» under services.

  4. Click OK and restart the machine. HP Client Security will be
    disabled and inactive.

Launch HP Client Security -> Password Manager -> Administration -> Administrative Console -> Increase System Security : disable Windows Logon Security.

I know this question is old and has an accepted answer, but I found an alternate solution to renaming files. This HP suite is difficult to deal with and removing it can be difficult.

Disabling HP ProtectTools Service

  1. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del and select «Task Manager.»
  2. Click the «Services» tab and select «hpqwmiex» without quotes in the
    list.
  3. Click «Open Services» and right-click the same heading from the
    Services Window.
  4. Click «Properties.»
  5. Click the «Startup type» drop-down menu and select «Disabled.»
  6. Click «Stop» from the «Service status» section.
  7. Locate HP ProtectTools from the Services menu and configure it the
    same way. This should disable HP ProtectTools and keep it from
    running on start up.

Uninstalling HP ProtectTools

  1. Go to Control Panel > Programs select Programs and Features, then choose Uninstall a program.
  2. Select HP ProtectTools Security Manager from the list of programs.
  3. Click «Uninstall» and follow all onscreen instructions to remove the
    program from your computer.

Open HP Client Security => Advanced Settings => Security Features => Uncheck Windows Logon Security

HP Client Security is very difficult to uninstall! I would recommend playing around with the settings before trying to get rid of it.

I found a solution to this here:

Open regedit, go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionWinlogon] and remove the C:Program Files (x86)Hewlett-PackardHP ProtectTools Security ManagerBinDPAgent.exe, part from the UserInit key. Apparently the coma at the end is important, so the entry should usually read C:Windowssystem32userinit.exe, afterwards.

My problem was, that the HP Protect Tools wouldn’t uninstall and caused a huge delay (and then some error message) in the logon screen of Windows 10 (after an Upgrade from Windows 7 to Win 10 Pro).

I removed the attachment to the userinit.exe under HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsNTCurrentVersionWinlogon and removed the .DLLs from Digital Persona (supplier of the HP Protect Tools) under %systemroot%system32 and %systemroot%SysWOW64. The main culprit seems to be DPCrProv.dll, but I aso removed similar .DLLs from the same company, which all startet with DP* and had the same time stamp.
After that I deleted all references to the DPCrProv.dll in the Windows registry. I don’t know, if this is necessary, but I did it anyway! After that, the laptop finally had a «clean» lock/login screen and a fast logon.

The way (not too pretty but working) I have found to solve the problem is to rename the c:Program Files (x86)Hewlett-PackardHP ProtectTools Security ManagerBinDPClientWizard.exe file. Once it is renamed and the system is restarted, a dialogue window appears that asks whether you actually want to use it or not.

and basically he claims the offending file was

C:Windowssystem32DPCrProv.dll

which basically the biometric software binds itself to this file causing the computer to read it every time you log in, slowing down the startup massively..

so i renamed it to «nomore.dll» just to alter the registry, and voila, the biometric authentication system no longer bugs me when i log in. I wish i have been here sooner to help others, but I hope this will help someone else in the near future…
