OnScreen Control is an application to enable easy control of the monitor connected to a PC. Screen Split , Monitor Setting, and My Application Presets and other menus let the user control screen split layout and monitor display settings as well as the monitor picture mode for each application. LG OnScreen Control — фирменная программа для настройки монитора, позволяет изменить параметры прямо из Windows, такие как яркость/контрастность/четкость и другие.

Разбираемся

OnScreen Control это фирменное ПО, используя которое можно настраивать параметры монитора без использования экранного меню. Программа работает через DDC/CI (Display Data Channel) — интерфейс обмена данными между ПК и монитором.

Обычно монитор настраивается при помощи специального меню, которое вызывается кнопкой под экраном. Так вот, эта программа позволяет производить настройку прямо из операционной системы, так намного удобнее.

Технологии Dual Controller и Dual Linkup позволяют использовать монитор LG UltraWide в качестве связующего звена между двумя компьютерами или другими источниками. Dual Controller обмен файлом между устройствами, например, компьютером и ноутбуком. Dual Linkup позволяет разделить экран на две части для одновременного отображения картинки с двух источников, например, компьютеров или компьютера и игровой консоли.

Мониторы LG UltraWide также отлично подойдут для геймеров. В зависимости от любимого жанра, владельцы мониторов LG UltraWide могут выбрать один из двух режимов FPS, а также RTS или самостоятельно настроить четвертый игровой профиль. Например, это могут быть многопользовательские игры, гонки или любые другие варианты, для которых вам бы хотелось иметь какую-то определенную конфигурацию параметров монитора.

Помимо Display Port и двух HDMI монитор LG UltraWide 34UC98-W имеет два порта Thunderbolt второго поколения для подключения к компьютерам Mac. Хочу предупредить всех пользователей приложения LG OnScreen Control, что в ней происходят массивные утечки памяти, из-за чего могут возникать ошибки в хроме, других приложениях и играх.

Если аптайм (работа без перезагрузки) компьютера достигает нескольких дней, то приложение LG OnScreen Control резервирует в файле подкачки около 20 ГБ, после недели аптайма у меня забивался файл подкачки полностью, а это файл подкачки на 64ГБ. Я даже увеличил его до 128 ГБ. Но еще через неделю приложения опять начали сбоить. Хром начал показывать, что ему недостаточно памяти, для открытия новой вкладки, игры и приложения (Unity Editor, Autodesk Fusion 360, Chrome и т.д.) отказывались даже запускаться.

Я решил скачать приложение Process Explorer и каково было моё удивление, что когда я отсортировал процессы по Shared Commit, процесс OSCApplicationManager.exe, который входит в пакет приложения LG OnScreen Control занимал почти весь файл подкачки.

Так что если у вас возникает такая же проблема с недостачей памяти и вы хотите понять что вам мешает комфортно работать за компьютером, то советую скачать себе Process Explorer (с сайта Майкрософт) и посмотреть какой процесс съедает файл подкачки. Попрошу также заметить, что диспетчер задач не показывал что процесс активно использует файл подкачки (колонка Commit Size).
