User-assignable Master Volume Control

The ProFire 2626 interface delivers a new level of flexible control via the customizable master volume knob. It’s assignable to any or all of the four analog output pairs, so you can choose which output pair will feed your main monitors. You can also choose whether the master volume knob influences either or both of the two headphone outputs, or operates independently of them. In addition, you can assign the master level control to all four output pairs to uniformly attenuate up to a 7.1 surround mix.

The ProFire 2626 employs high-quality converters to deliver sampling rates up to 192kHz for pristine, high-definition sound quality. Onboard DSP Mixer and Router

Customize your setup and record the way you want thanks to the power and flexibility of the ProFire 2626 onboard DSP mixer and router. Use the router to select from up to 52 audio streams and send them to any of the 26 hardware outputs.** The adaptable onboard DSP mixer allows you to select from any of the 26 hardware inputs and 26 software returns as sources for any of its 18 input channels—allowing you to create up to eight stereo mixes. You can also create presets and instantly recall these setups at a later date.

Standalone operation

The ProFire 2626 doubles as a standalone 8-channel preamp, 8-channel A/D-D/A converter and digital format converter. In standalone mode, the eight analog inputs route to the first eight ADAT optical output channels. This facilitates use of the line, instrument and mic ins—including the preamps—with other digital gear. Similarly, the first eight ADAT optical input channels feed the eight analog outputs to provide D/A functionality. You can also disable the D/A conversion to allow the analog input channels to route to both the analog and ADAT optical outputs—transforming the ProFire 2626 into a standalone 8-channel mic pre with eight discrete analog outputs plus 8-channel ADAT output. When the second optical port is not used for A/D conversion, the ProFire 2626 can also convert coaxial S/PDIF to optical S/PDIF.

Professional Connectivity for the Most Demanding Projects

The ProFire 2626 features essential connectivity for any studio, delivering rock-solid stability and optimal sound quality. Analog inputs are sourced from the eight combo jacks as either XLR mic or ¼” TRS balanced line inputs. In addition, analog channels 1 and 2 provide easily accessible ¼” TS instrument jacks on the front panel. Eight ¼” TRS connectors provide balanced line outputs for monitoring and interfacing with other outboard gear. Digital I/O is available via 2 x 2 S/PDIF and 16 x 16 ADAT Lightpipe. Know this is an old post but some of us still have working Profire 2626’s and have felt the need to upgrade our systems to some of the newest ones. I thought I would chime-in on the subject recently and my discoveries for anyone out there currently pulling their hair out trying to get this to work.

I recently upgraded my system to an MSI Pro Carbon B450 AC and Ryzen 2700X eight core. Although I really wanted to stay with Windows 7, unfortunately Windows 7 is no longer supported by the chipsets on modern motherboards so I basically had to upgrade to Windows 10 kicking and screaming.

As far as the 2626, it’s a dead dog on a modern Windows 10 system. I installed a SYBA pci-e firewire card into the system (this received great reviews about it working in 10) and the newest driver 6.1.1. Could not get the 2626 to work reliably no matter what I did. I worked on this system for an entire week trying various things and various drivers (including the downloaded Windows Legacy driver for 1394 and even third party drivers I found). All other sound devices were disabled for testing.

This problem DOES NOT appear to be an issue with using 1394 with Windows 10, not even with the most recent version of 10. Nor does it appear to be an issue with using either the SYBA or SIIG firewire PCI_E cards. Further more, from what I found the Legacy 1394 driver was not needed and the card operated fine with the newer TI 1394 default driver.

Она применяется также, в частности, в M-Audio ProFire 610, и уже успела зарекомендовать себя с положительной стороны.

Коммутация

8 аналоговых входов благодаря комбинированным разъёмам могут быть скоммутированы с самыми различными источниками звука, такими, как микрофоны, инструменты, direct-out’ы аналогового микшерского пульта, возвраты сигнала (return) с устройств обработки и т.п. Для легкого доступа на передней панели расположены два инструментальных входа 1/4″ TRS, назначенных на первые два входные канала. Выбор между инструментальными входами и микрофонными (на обратной панели) осуществляется за счёт кнопки InstMic, расположенной рядом с каждым из двух входов на передней панели.

Аналоговые выходы могут быть скоммутированы с входами аналогового микшерского пульта (при работе на концерте, например), студийными мониторами, распределителями на наушники, устройствами обработки звука.

Управление

Уровень входного аналогового сигнала регулируется расположенными на передней панели ручками gain’а, которые при вытягивании «на себя» дополнительно понижают сигнал на 20 дб. Там же включается фантомное питание и регулируется уровень посыла на наушники. Остальное управление картой осуществляется через окно Control Panel во вкладках Mixer, Router и Settings.

Роутер позволяет соединить любой из входов карты, потоков сигнала Software return или восьми выходов DSP-микшера (один Master Out + 7 Aux’ов) с любым имеющимся выходом карты.

В окне роутера также можно изменить приоритет аудио-входов (что изменит их список в используемых музыкальных программах), и регулировать количество активных входов карты и программных возвратов сигнала (сокращение неиспользуемых источников звука позволяет освободить ресурсы системы и обеспечить большую стабильность работе).

В отдельной вкладке настроек карты можно изменить параметры оцифровки (частота, размер буфера), настроить отображение пиков сигнала на DSP-микшере и назначить ручку Master Volume на один из аналоговых стереовыходов.

Автономная работа

Возможность автономной работы является одной из самых важных функций устройства. ProFire 2626 может работать как 8-канальный предусилитель и как восьмиканальный A/D или D/A цифровой конвертер. В ситуации, когда нужно использовать только предусилитель или конвертер (без коммутации с рабочей станцией), эта функция позволяет сэкономить на отдельном приборе.

Работа с многоканальными форматами

Карта позволяет выводить 8 аналоговых каналов одновременно, поэтому её можно использовать для создания многоканального звука при производстве аудиодисков (DVD-audio и SACD) или в кино-видео-производстве. Для этого нужно подключить к выходам Line Outputs акустические системы или усилитель (например, для шестиканального формата 5.1: 1 – центральный, 2 и 3 – левый и правый передние, 4 и 5 – левый и правый задние, 6 – сабвуфер) и настроить соответствующие дорожки в программе для сведения многоканального звука (Cubase, Nuendo, Pro Tools итд). При работе со звуком 5.1 или 7.1 для контроля звучания «в стерео» можно использовать плагин «Mix6to2» или «Mix8to2» соответственно.

Detailed Description
1. Updated the legacy uninstaller to cope with a recently discovered bug in the legacy 64-bit InstallShield-based package. The package in question fail to properly clean up after itself on uninstall, leaving an erroneous entry in Windows add/remove programs panel, and previously caused false positives with the legacy uninstaller. The legacy uninstaller now detects this condition and cleans up after it.
2. Fixed a bug where the install would fail if a component shared among multiple installers (e.g. TBIA) was already present on the target system and had a higher version number.
3. Prevent Windows compatibility assistant from displaying specious warning box by removing use of the word «uninstall» in the version resource.
4. Ensure that the legacy uninstall doesn’t require a reboot by killing the tray app before doing uninstall. This prevents problems when the Windows installer subsequently reinstalls the tray app.
5. Update to Windows installer removes the reported InstallShield error message.
6. Updated Installer Read Me.rtf. Removed old info and updated supported OSes.
7. Added Manufacturer & Supports links and Support telephone number to the Installer. These are visible in the Support Information displayed in the Add or Remove Programs control panel.
