Indeed, with Z470 or Z490 boards from multiple vendors (not just ASUS) affected, it seems readily apparent that the issue is with the Intel ProSet tools installer and its inability to correctly install on Z400 chipset-based motherboards.

I wrote earlier, confirming the findings on the Asus ROG MAXIMUS XII HERO (WI-FI) featuring the I219-V Intel network adapter.  I can now share that I am working with an Asus PRIME Z490-A featuring an I225-V.

Same behavior on both boards and adapters.  You can get the driver to install (though it says no adapters are detected).  But the PROSet suite won’t install.  So we cannot use VLANs, etc.

2.  Note how you get no network «out of the box» after a fresh install of Windows.

3.  Install PROSet software package and note how it says no adapter is detected, yet does install the driver, yet fails to install PROSet suite.

4.  Done.

With respect, if Intel really wants to get to the bottom of this, they can.  It’s not that expensive.  It just needs to be escalated to the point where someone takes an acute interest in it, and gets the authorization to spend about $250 to investigate it.  Then, a relatively trivial task of modifying the PROSet detection routine(s) to accommodate Intel’s own Z470/490 chipset.

Here’s hoping they’ve actually already done that for the upcoming PROSet release.

Intel SMBus Controller device drivers are overwritten with Intel® Chipset Device Software when updated through Microsoft Windows* Update, causing a loss of functionality for affected Intel SMBus Controller devices. 1 This loss of functionality applies to Windows* 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server systems.

What are you seeing?

You may experience a loss of functionality for the listed Intel SMBus Controller devices.

The SMBus is used for system management communications. If the device driver for the Intel SMBus Controller is not correctly installed, the temperature reporting, as an example, for the processor, PCH, and memory modules may not function as expected.

Why are you seeing it?

The existing Intel SMBus Controller device drivers are overwritten with the Intel Chipset Device Software, which provides the operating system with information about the device/hardware. This information allows the operating system to display the correct product name for that piece of hardware in Device Manager. The Intel Chipset Device Software does not install device drivers for the Intel SMBus Controller, resulting in a loss of device functionality.

РЕШЕНО не устанавливается видео драйвер на платах H110 WINDOWS 7

Здравствуйте дорогие. я нашел как исправить эту проблему без какой либо трудности. и хотел бы рассказать.
1) скачиваете видео драйвер с ОФ сайта.
2) распаковываете ZIP файл.
3) патом заходите управление в пункт диспетчер устройств, правой кнопкой мыши кликаем по видео драйверу и открываем пункт свойства. В открытом окне переходим в пункт сведение и в пункте «Сведения» видим СВОЙСТВО под ним (описание устройства) заменяем на ИД оборудования в окне значение покажет ИД видео драйвера.
