The weather section has suddenly stopped working and just shows ‘Currently’ and a degrees symbol.

I went into settings and found the weather source URL line, copied it to a browser window and it worked fine, so it’s not the weather source (Weather Underground), but seems to be Rainmeter itself.

The skin I’m using is ‘elementary’ but it seems to make no difference when I change it. Everything else is still working fine — is this maybe something to do with recent Windows 10 updates?

Anyone know how to get it going again?

Everything Weather Underground ceased to function in my area on March 4th as far as Rainmeter is concerned. They have changed their website and it is no longer compatible with Rainmeter WebParser.

In addition they have cancelled all free developer keys for access to their API and will no longer provide them. Basically Weather Underground is dead as far as Rainmeter goes unless you have a personal weather station and upload data. If so you can retrieve your data but it will be limited and in JSON format.

Not sure where you got an Elementary skin that uses WU (WUnderground is dead for Rainmeter skins). The original Elementary skins used Yahoo (it is also dead). The second & third Elementary versions used Weather.com (but it changed formatting).

Here is an updated version that uses WXData from Weather.com
EDIT: You need to create a new «Location» variable in «Elementary@ResourcesSettings.txt» and set it to your zip code or weather.com code e.g; Location=USNY0996 .

With these changes It is working fine for me.

Replace the ‘ weather.ini‘ file in the ‘ SkinsElementaryWeather‘ folder with this file.

In my post above, sadly I forget to tell users to create a new «Location» variable in the «@ResourcesSettings.txt» file. If you do that and replace «ElementaryWeatherWeather.ini» with the code above, it should work.

Alternately, here is a patch package you can download and install. This will replace only the «ElementaryWeatherweather.ini» file with the version posted above and «Elementary@ResourcesSettings.txt» file with the added «Location» variable into your current Elementary installation folder.

Note: If you made changes to the «@ResourcesSettings.txt», you may want to copy that file to a location outside of the skin folder before installing this patch, so you can compare it to the one in this package and restore your settings.

This package does not modify any other skins in your SkinsElementary folder.

That’s not so simple. There are some other variables as well, which also are missing if you don’t have the original package, I suppose. I don’t have it and only get some missing variables shown on the skin. Like #Currently# and so on. And beside location, unit phi and scalar would also be needed. The #language#.txt, style.inc included files are also required.
So, a link to the original package would be welcomed, I think.

Plus, additionally note that you’re needlessly quoting some options in your code. For example there is no need to quote what you have into the RegExp option (nor other) of the parent WebParser measure. But also not needed to quote the Text option into the [styleForecastString] style section and so on. Как и было написано в инструкции
1. идем на weather.com в строке поиска пишем нужный город (Донецк). Далее из адресной строки копируем этот код UPXX0011
2. открываем *.ini файлик отвечающий за погоду, вставляем этот урл URL=http://xml.weather.com/weather/local/UPXX0011?cc=*&unit=m&dayf=6 если нужен другой город, то смотрим п. 1

я всё вот так зделал вписал терь пагоду вабще не показывает!
Что я зделал не так?

Started this morning, Wednesday March 14, 2018, Weather shows as «Connection Error — Try again in a couple of seconds».

Tried different zipcodes, same results. Tried rebooting, same results.

I am using 4.2 beta. Anyone else having this issue?

My weather skin is working perfectly. What weather data feed are you using? Also where are you getting that error message, in the log?

Как подавляющее большинство пользователей Windows, я не раз задавался вопросом, как же украсить свой рабочий стол так, чтобы он был чем-то большим, чем просто свалкой ярлычков, папок и временных файлов. Но не смотря на то, что Microsoft за последние годы все же несколько изменила рабочий стол Windows, добавилась вменяемая панель, плагины, темы, возможности настройки системы под себя до сих пор остаются практически нулевыми — легко заметить, что большинство скриншотов Windows индивидуальны разве что в плане обоев/пары плагинов, при чем настраиваемость самих плагинов. нет её, и все тут.

Однако не все так плохо. Буквально пару дней назад я открыл для себя программу Rainmeter. .

С помощью до мелочей настраиваемых виджетов программа позволяет отображать загруженность процессора, памяти, жесткого диска, сетевого трафика и т.д., может отображать погоду, RSS, календарь, время. только кофе не варит.

Например:

При всем при этом программа съедает весьма небольшое количество ресурсов. Правда, не обходится и без ложки дегтя — настройка виджетов новичку очень сложна, могут возникнуть проблемы.

Great, thanks, almost there! The only thing left is to change the weather module from Fahrenheit to °C. There is no option in the wrench setting. Any hint appreciated.

Edit, i have «Use Windows Regional Settings» turned on, but i’m behind a VPN, so that`s maybe the reason?

For future instances where this would be an issue (if, say, weather.com is changing its default key once every year or once every couple of years), assuming the structure of the weather.com’s webpage stays the same, you’d want to CTRL+F (i.e. Find) the «V3» API Key in the page source. When looking for «Key» in the current webpage source, it is the 5th occurrence, so nothing beyond anyone’s level.

Very useful to know, thanks for this post.

Well, flooding subreddits and other means of distributing information is not something I would worry to hope against, since even a single small piece of information is easy to access nowadays if one really wants to find it. As always, the hope is rather for weather.com’s changes to be minimal (with all that this means). Adaptive and non-adaptive skins can handle information, if there’s a way of getting it in the first place.

Представляем вашему вниманию второй крупный релиз Win10 Widgets. В новой версии была реализована светлая тема под грядущее обновление Windows 10 19H1. Также была решена проблема в виджетом погоды, который с 1 января 2019 года перестал работать из-за Yahoo. Еще стоит отметить, что в новом релизе появились такие виджеты, как «Графический процессор», который показывает нагрузку на видеокарту и «Криптометр», где отображаются актуальные котировки криптовалют. Также в новом релизе появилась совместимость с расширением WebNowPlaying Companion, который позволяет отображать музыку в виджете Spotify, которая играет в браузере.

Список изменений:
— добавлена светлая тема;
— добавлен виджет нагрузки ГПУ;
— добавлен виджет криптовалют;
— решена проблема с виджетом погоды;
— сделана оптимизация виджетов.

Установка:
1. Установить Rainmeter 4.2;
2. Установить скин (Black/White);
3. Установить расширение в браузере WebNowPlaying Companion (по желанию).

Состоялся релиз Win10 Widgets 2.0, где была исправлена проблема с погодой. Помимо этого, новая версия обзавелась полноценной светлой темой под обновление системы Windows 10 19H1. Очень печально осознавать, что автор самих виджетов Thomas Markham перестал их как-то модернизировать и обновлять, поэтому мы взяли на себя эту ношу и обновили виджеты до актуальной версии. Также, приложение может похвастаться улучшением оптимизации, был убрал ненужный код, который грузил очень сильно систему. Поэтому новая версия не только самая функциональная, но и производительная. Ниже вы можете скачать Rainmeter 4.2 и виджеты в двух версиях: светлые и темные. Также можете установить расширения для Google или Firefox плагин WebNowPlaying Companion, который позволит транслировать музыку с веб-браузера в плеер Spotify.

Инструкция по установке:
1. Установить приложение Rainmeter 4.2.
2. Установить скин (Black/White).
3. По желанию, установите WebNowPlaying Companion для воспроизведения музыки из интернета в виджете Spotify.
4. Перезагрузить ПК.
