Searched the forums and didn’t see any posts about this yet. So to save people the time that I wasted trying to figure out why after the April 2018 update your real tone cable isn’t working.
With the April 2018 update they added new privacy features that block most apps from using your microphone.
So to get it to work again go to your windows settings and search microphone privacy and switch it to allow apps to use your mic. I wasted an hour trying to figure it out and reinstalled Rocksmith all over again when all I had to do was click this setting. Hope this saves some people time after they get the windows update.

Path to the setting. Start Menu>Settings>Privacy>Microphone Turn on «Allow Apps to access your microphone».

I need to write up a proper tutorial from my own findings. Basically I ditched the real-tone cable and instead use a mix of ‘Voice meeter’ in (virtual asio mode) / using Reaper (any DAW would work) with my zoom uac-2 asio driver. This way Rocksmith still picks up my guitar but I get the benefit of using for example my custom tones with Bias FX. From there you can hook up midi foot switches etc. there is no discernible latency since the sound you hear is direct asio driver driven and get the awesome sound while again still having Rocksmith pickup the played notes. I also need to get back in gear with cranking out more EOF songs for the community. Why must work life be so much WORK!

This is EXACTLY what I’ve been planning to do!!!! I just moved so I was having to hold off another pay period or two. But I wanted to download Bias 2, and play it along with RS!!! Can you tell me exactly what I’ll need, and how you did it? I’m playing on a Surface Pro Tablet, and have been for years. But I’ve been dying to get my hands on bias, and play with it and RS at the same time!

Are you playing on the first Surface pro model? And I have no clue what OBS streaming is. I know this much. If you turn your settings (visually) all the way down, you can play this game with zero problems. I have over 3,000 songs and have no issues, unless I catch a bad cdlc. Anyway. Fill me in on the OBS thing.

@@Xellot — i use a pro 4 and can’t get OBS to work properly — only shows a black screen and if I’m using it windowed then its so small (1366*768 res) I can’t make out anything

Are you using a TV or a Monitor to play on? I’m assuming you’re not playing staring at the tablet….. One thing you can do if you have to adjust the resolution is Zoom in on your TV settings. IE: Wide, Zoom etc. I have to turn my resolution down too, and I only run the game on 720p. You really don’t need fancy ass graphics, and to be honest I can’t tell a difference in what I play, and what I see on youtube. Just saw your reply. Give me some time and I will write up the exact steps. I’ll up this post as well as create a new one. I will also try to provide a direct URL to the no cable patch I’m using. That was quite difficult to troubleshoot btw.

You are the man. The real tone cable was working fine outside the game but when i was ‘alt-tab’ing in game no sound from the guitar. I tried for days with settings in windows 10 and inside the game and the .ini file to no end.You just saved a guitar, a real tone cable, an ASUS laptop and my mother in law going out of the window(3rd floor) Thank you very much.

Overview
First of all:Yes, we all know Windows 10 is a mess. Maybe some of you will already think: “Wtf is this sh*t? Windows Vista 2.0?”Ah yes, yes. Remember the times where you plug something in your computer and it would work just fine? The good ol’ Windows 7 times. Anyways, you are not here for nostalgic reasons right? So lets get started, shall we?Make sure your guitar is not plugged in while installing the driver, it might cause errors. Now you are ready to start!(p.s: Since I am a native german-speaker, there may are some details lost in translation. Sorry for that.)______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Zu aller erst:Ja wir wissens, Windows 10 ist das reinste Chaos. Mancher von euch wir denken: “Was ist dieser scheiß? Windows Vista 2.0?”Hach ja. Erinnert ihr euch an die Zeit, wo ihr etwas an euren computer steckt und es funktionierte einfach tadellos?Die gute alte Windows 7 Zeit. Nun denn, ihr seid nicht hier aus nostalgischen gründen richtig? Also lasst uns loslegen. Vergewissere dich dass deine Gitarre nicht am Kable angeschlossen ist wenn du den Treiber installierst. STEPS:
- Press: Win + R
- Type: mmc devmgmt.msc, click ok.
- Open the first 4 tabs and look for Rocksmith USB Guitar Adapter.
(It may has something like a warning sign displayed in the icon) - Right click on it>properties>go to driver>update driver>search on pc for driver.
- Click on “Select from a list of device drivers on my computer” (That box underneath with the arrow)
- Search for the driver: USB-Audiodevice, click on continue and it should install the driver.
If the cable still doesn’t work, you may want to use it to strangle Ubisoft-Employees with it. 😛
Don’t forget to shave your hair and tattoo a barcode on the back of your head!

- Öffne die ersten 4 Reiter und suche nach Rocksmith USB Guitar Adapter.
(Vermutlich hat es sowas wie ein Warnschild im Icon) - Rechtsklick>Eigenschaften>Treiber>Treiber aktualisieren>Auf dem Computer nach Treibersoftware suchen.
- Klick auf: “Aus einer Liste von Gäretetreibern auf dem Computer auswählen” (Die untere Box)
- Suche nach dem Treiber: USB-Audiogerät, klicke auf weiter und nun sollte sich der Treiber installieren.
Sollte der Kabel immer noch nicht funktionieren kannst du ihn dafür verwenden Ubisoft-Mitarbeiter zu strangulieren. 😛 Vergiss dabei nicht deinen Kopf zu rasieren und dir einen Barcode auf den Hinterkopf zu tätowieren! Ich hoffe jedenfalls ich konnte irgendwie behilflich sein.
Has anyone else had this problem? I’ve looked at Ubisoft’s general support web pages and talked with their support team. I’ve yet to find a solution. The cable is detected in device manager and is placed in an «other device» category — it definitely appears to be a driver related issue but as I’ve learned it uses a Windows OS generic driver and all my other USB devices are indeed working. I’ve tried multiple USB ports — the cable is brand new and just recently ordered online via Ubisoft on Amazon.
[SOLVED]
So the real tone cable worked on the girlfriends laptop using Windows 10, drivers immediately installed, no problems. So I sat here for at least three hours trying everything.
Installed DirectX Runtime End-User multiple times, nothing.
Installed new audio drivers, nothing.
Tried replacing USBAUDIO.sys and WDM(something).inf files, nothing.
**Solution**: What I ended up having to do, when trying to «update» the driver that could not be found, I simply asked to search locally, I searched the C:/Windows directory about 7 times. Each time it would try a different driver, USB Composite, USB Audio device, USB bleh, and I repeatd his process until the device succeeded in device manager and moved to a Sound Device as opposed to other, losing the yellow flag. I’m happy to report, I can use the damn cable now! Thank you for all the suggestions.
