Each software is released under license type that can be found on program pages as well as on search or category pages. Here are the most common license types:
Freeware
Freeware programs can be downloaded used free of charge and without any time limitations. Freeware products can be used free of charge for both personal and professional (commercial use).
Open Source
Open Source software is software with source code that anyone can inspect, modify or enhance. Programs released under this license can be used at no cost for both personal and commercial purposes. There are many different open source licenses but they all must comply with the Open Source Definition — in brief: the software can be freely used, modified and shared.
Free to Play
This license is commonly used for video games and it allows users to download and play the game for free. Basically, a product is offered Free to Play (Freemium) and the user can decide if he wants to pay the money (Premium) for additional features, services, virtual or physical goods that expand the functionality of the game. In some cases, ads may be show to the users.
Demo
Demo programs have a limited functionality for free, but charge for an advanced set of features or for the removal of advertisements from the program’s interfaces. Ghostscript is an interpreter for the PostScript® language and PDF files. It is available under either the GNU GPL Affero license or licensed for commercial use from Artifex Software, Inc. It has been under active development for over 30 years and has been ported to several different systems during this time. Ghostscript consists of a PostScript interpreter layer and a graphics library.
There is a family of other products, including GhostPCL, GhostPDF, and GhostXPS that are built upon the same graphics library. Between them, this family of products offers native rendering of all major page description languages. Our latest product, GhostPDL, pulls all these languages into a single executable.

it is a good tool for PCL Conversion I am a newer .so i have some questions
1) How to count of Page on the PCL File using Ghost script?
2) How to Convert PCL to PCL using Ghost script?
3) How to view PCL File in C#.Net using Ghost script? -
The installation wrapper sites the Affero GNU Public License (AGPL or Affero GPL) license. I can just go to Artifex and get the latest version under that license. Where is the regular GPL (GNU Public License) version of ghostscript and why is there a separate repository here on sourceforge that is 5 versions out of date compared with the Artifex site?

Бесплатное программное обеспечение для операционных систем Windows XP/Vista/7/8/8.1/10 (для 32-х и 64-битных систем предусмотрены отдельные версии программы).
Утилита Ghostscript не имеет пользовательского интерфейса. Вместо него используется оболочка — командная строка, из которой осуществляется управление интерпретатором. Однако документы формата «.ps» можно привязать к открытию этой оболочкой — пользователь сможет увидеть графическое содержимое PS-файлов, но более ничего. При необходимости форматирования PostScript-файлов в другие графические форматы требуется ввод специальных команд в командную строку.
Ghostscript широко используется программистами для компиляции (интерпретации) кода на языке «PostScript».
Ghostscript — это еще и очень мощный инструмент преобразования любых графических файлов и электронных документов в PDF-формат и наоборот. Ghostscript is open-source software which enables XnView and related programs to load PostScript-based file formats (PS + EPS + AI) as well as PDF for display, printing, and conversion.
Ghostscript has to be downloaded and installed separately.

XnView Classic as well as the 32-bit editions of XnView MP, XnConvert, nConvert, and XnShell require Ghostscript 32-bit to be installed (even on 64-bit operating systems), while all 64-bit versions need Ghostscript 64-bit.

Users of XnView Classic who run into trouble getting AGPL Ghostscript v9 to work are advised to give AFPL Ghostscript v8 (gs854w32.exe) a try.

How to activate thumbnails for PostScript files in XnView’s browser and shell extension:
- XnView Classic
- Tools → Options… → File List → File List → AI, PS, PDF files → Show item in view ‘Thumbnails’
- XnView MP
- Tools → Settings… → File list → Custom filter → AI/PS/PDF → Show as Thumbnail
- XnShell
- Options… → No thumbnail for EPS/PDF
By default, Ghostscript loads images with a resolution of 72 dots per inch (DPI).
This value can be customized:
