The VMRC console has disconnected
The VMRC console has disconnected…attempting to reconnect.
taskkill /f /im vmware-vmrc.exe
Теперь осталось только перезагрузить сам vSphere Client, после чего сообщение: «The VMRC console has disconnected…attempting to reconnect» больше не появится.

Hello,
When i try to open a console-screen of a VM a will receive the following error : The VMRC console has disconnected…attempting to reconnect. The screen stays black.
ESXi : 5.0.0-469512.x86_64
Client : Vsphere 5 Client version 5.0.0-455964
Virtual Machine : Windows 2003 R2 32 bits
I get the error when I attempt to open (in this case) a Windows 2003 VM from my desktop, which is running Windows 7 64-bit with Vsphere 5 Client version 5.
This error is recent, because until a few days ago was to access these VM normally.
Anyone who knows a solution for this case?
Thanks!

Im seeing the same issue but only with the console tab, I have no issues when using the open console option to get the console in a separate window. Thats been our workaround so far
How hard can it be, it’s only one’s and zero’s

We experienced this issue on Windows XP workstations immediately following the installation of Microsoft Visual Studio. Neither the Console tab or the Console window would work, both reporting the error that «The VMRC console has disconnected, attempting to reconnect» using the vSphere 5 client.
It seems that the installation of Microsoft Visual Studio overwrites or breaks something related to vSphere Remote Console access.
Solution: Re-installing the VMware vSphere client on the affected systems resolves the problem.

We have actually experienced the problem again since then, where MS Visual Studio was not a factor, in this scenario I powered off the VM and migrated it to a new host, then powered it back on and the problem was resolved.

Just to summaries the work around given so far are as follows
1. Reinstall the vsphere client on the affected system
2. reboot the VM
3. move the VM from one host to another host and reboot.
4. open console in separate window and see..
But dont see a fix for.. let see if we get some input from any expert here for this..bouncing this up..
Thanks & Regards

I had this problem after I upgraded my VMWare server to 5.0 from 4.1. I found that installing the 5.0 vSphere client did not upgrade from the 4.1 client. I had to uninstall both 4.1 and 5.0 and reinstall just the 5.0.
Hope this helps somebody.

i had the same issue,
If you have a web cam in the guest computer that runs the cSphere client:
* kill the proces called «fixCamera.exe».
* stop the host server
* close the vSphere client.
* open it again and try again.
Problem solved for me.

Hi guys,
I got that error yesterday and I fixed it.
Even after several reboots…no progress. I removed the VClient from my vCenter Server and put it again. I figured this out when I tried connect into my Host by another vClient and worked fine. So the problem was on my VCenter Server.

I had this exact issue, and interestingly enough while i was loading Visual Studio 2010 on a Win 2k8R2 VM. So i’m assuming something in the Visual Studio load causes an issue with the vSphere client.
At any rate, the same error happend «VMRC console has disconnected.. attempting to reconnect». Even when i tried to power off the VM it hung at 95%. I was about to ssh into my esx host to kill the process for the VM when i saw this post and checked the processes running on my PC. Thank you for saving me some head ache pain.
I did not have to reinstall or reboot. I just had rogue vmware_vmrc.exe processes running. I killed them from the task manager and the issue was resolved.

For those of us just starting with VMware, it would be really helpfull if you gave more detailed informatiion.
After upgrade to vCenter 5 Update 1, got exact this issue. I tried to kill process vmware-vmrc in task manager and no go. Have to uninstall vSphere client and installed again, now it works.
How does one go about doing this?
I am running the vSphere client from my Windows 7 systems —> ESXi5 system.
— Wher is the process running? How to access and kill?
— Do you upgrade the vSphere client on the Windoes 7 system?
Thanks

Check for the vmware-vmrc.exe processes and kill them. Sometimes they don’t close properly, even when the client is closed.

Killing those processes didn’t work for me.
I had to install an updated version of vSphere Client, to be more specific, the 5.0.0-913577 build.

vSphere Client error «The VMRC console has disconnected attempting to reconnect»
has anyone seen the error «The VMRC console has disconnected attempting to reconnect.» when using vSphere 5.0, and know how to correct it?
I have lost connection to my host, then when I re-login with vSphere everything seems fine, except I cannot view the console on any VM. obviously not fine.

The VMRC console has disconnected
I have recently run into the following error on VMware VSphere client: The VMRC console has disconnected…attempting to reconnect. I’m not sure when this error started happening but I wasn’t able to open any virtual machine on any host.
Some of the suggested solutions I’ve found on the net is to shut down the vmware-vmrc.exe in the task manager. Even though I wasn’t able to find the mentioned process in the list I got the following error when trying to start WMware vSphere client.
vmware-vmrc.exe – Application Error | The application was unable to start correctly (0x0000005). Click OK to close the application.
Another suggested solution is to uninstall the vmware converter and restarting your machine. Then download and install the latest vmware vsphere client.
Some of the other suggested solutions are restarting your vsphere client, rebooting machine, running vpshere client in eleveated mode, restarting vmware management service on vsphere server and checking that DNS is correct from vpshere client to vsphere server. None of suggested helped in my case.
On my machine I had installed two vMware vSphere Client versions. Version 5.5 and 6.0.
In my case first I had to uninstall vMware vSphere Client 6.0 and 5.5 after that followed by installation of 5.5 and then 6.0 versions that solved the problem.
Crusial point of this is to uninstall ALL VERSIONS of vMware vSphere Client and reinstall the software.

VMRC Has Been Disconnected. Attempting to Reconnect
I’m unable to use the console feature in vSphere. When I click the console tab or right click any VM > view console I get a black screen with the «VMRCC has been disconnected. Attempting to Reconnect..» error message.
Steps I’ve taken to try and fix this:
— Open task manager and end all vmware processes, including vmware-vmrc.exe
None of these has solved the problem. If anyone has any insight on this I’d greatly appreciate it.

What version? If you are using version 6.5 or higher you need to be using the web interface and you should be able to install the Remote console application for the drop down under the Summary tab where the screen preview is.
You may also be experiencing trouble if you have the hyperv role or vmware workstation installed on the pc you are using for console.
I thought the same thing but my co-worker installed 6.0 on his machine and it also gives the same error. The only common factor is our laptops are the same models/same configuration.

vSphere Client error in Windows 8, “The VMRC console has disconnected…attempting to reconnect.”
*UPDATE 2012-09-11
VMware ESXi 5.1 has now been released to the public along with VIclient v5.1. If you are using Windows 8, view my new post for info on how to avoid console issues as described below as well as the caveats with upgrading to v5.1.
See that screenshot above? This was my nightmare when re-doing my VMWare ESXi setup on my Dell OptiPlex 745. ESXi installed on the OptiPlex 745 just fine, and all of the VI Client features worked in my Windows 8 computer except for the console. A little investigation of this issue points to a warning in the Event Viewer. I found this warning entry for the VMWARE-VMRC.EXE (which is the VMWare Console executable):
Application ‘C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesVMwareVMware VMRC Plug-inInternet Explorervmware-vmrc.exe’ (pid 1408) cannot be restarted – Application SID does not match Conductor SID..
Long story short, the VI client as of August 2012 doesn’t work yet in Windows 8 so don’t bother trying. The console view uses an Internet Explorer plug-in, which is not yet compatible with IE10 in Windows 8. Even disabling IE10 and forcing an alternate web browser in Windows 8 doesn’t fix the problem. If you really, really want to use Windows 8, just set up a new Windows XP virtual machine and use the VI client from the VM. That is your only work around for now.
… If VMware wasn’t so entrenched in the enterprise I would only be using Microsoft Hyper-V (Hyper-V 3.0 RTM just might be the version I’ve been waiting for….).

Bump — anyone found a fix yet?
Not yet, although the link provided by PWILEY above does yield some additional information, specifically this event log entry:
Application ‘C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesVMwareVMware VMRC

Joe (from the link) surmised that the vmrc plug-in is simply incompatible with IE10. He even went as far as trying to force the plug-in to utilize another browser, but this failed as well. Again, if we, the IT community, were provided some additional information, we might be able to come up with a work-around that does not involve using VMware Workstation (that is my current work-around of choice) or some other less-than-straight-forward solution.

The VMRC console has disconnected…attempting to reconnect.

Verbose logging for VMware Infrastructure Client and vSphere Client

Thanks Heitor! Broke my client after installing Visual Studio Pro 2015. Nothing else worked. Uninstalled the client that came from my vCenter server and installed the 5.0.0-913577 build and life is good.
Recently had this issue on Windows 8. Installing the build mentioned fixed it.
stop vmrc.exe using task maager, uninstall existing client, Download latest v5.0 client 5.0.0-1300600.exe, work fine now
Thanks, that fixed it for me too. There was a later update for me to try by this time though, so I’ve installed 5.0.0-1300600 and now it is working again.
Killing those processes didn’t work for me.
I had to install an updated version of vSphere Client, to be more specific, the 5.0.0-913577 build.
BravesBm Where did you download the 5.0.0-1300600?
I am suffering this problem in win10 as well, tried to download the sphere client 5.0 mentioned in this thread but it disallowed me to download. Anyone can post a link for downloading? Big thanks.
Killing the processes worked for me
Hi there!
I thought I’d let you know you’ve just made my day 🙂
I’ve been through hundreds of posts related to the damn «vmrc disconnected» issue for ages and, once in a while, I take sometime to find out if someone found a solution.
Should anyone else need to update, the link for the whole set of versions available is
