Creating new profiles through ThinkVantage Access Connections are for authentication purposes which helps users keep their information safe or their work private. ThinkVantage Access Connections allows users to handpick the exact access point they want to connect with. Automatically, ThinkVantage Access Connections will connect its users to the «best» connection automatically. This is helpful for people who need to work when they are at home or when they at the office. ThinkVantage Access Connections allows people to be uninterrupted from their work by maintaining a location’s connection. It can be extremely useful for people who travel quite frequently or are constantly on the move. ThinkVantage Access Connections is probably best for more seasoned computer operators. ThinkVantage Access connection is what make the windows for computer better than others. They had organized all the Software that brings more functionality to the computer under the ThinkVantage access connections. It is all sorted and easy to find, and the great part is that its works. ThinkVantage is way better than the other software suite.it has well organized, you find it easy to find the last version of the software .

About ThinkVantage Access Connection, it is great, I think there is not even a commercial product that can get as good as this. It allows you to have different network profiles, if you are a guy that moves from office to office. On this profiles you can choose, IP, gateways, DNS, and even to change the default printer and what programs should autostart according to the profile that you choose.

I have been using ThinkVantage Access Connections for several years. It is a very useful and reliable tool for managing and switching between different network profiles. It is easy to use and offers a lot of options for customizing the way you use different networks. The user interface is intuitive and the software runs smoothly. It provides quick and secure connections to networks and is able to detect new connections automatically. I also appreciate the fact that it does not take up much system resources. All in all, I am very satisfied with the performance of ThinkVantage Access Connections.

ThinkVantage Access Connections is a useful tool for managing wireless networks. It makes connecting to multiple networks easy and efficient. The user interface is intuitive and easy to use. It also provides good security features. I have had no major issues with the software.

I found ThinkVantage Access Connections softare to be quite user-friently and easy to use, however there were some sporadic issues with connectin stablity.

What is Access Connections?

ThinkVantage Access Connections is a connectivity assistant program for your ThinkPad computer. It enables you to quickly switch the network settings and Internet settings by selecting a location profile.

You can define the network settings and Internet settings in the Location Profile for modem/wired LAN/Wireless LAN network devices, and then restore that profile whenever you need it. By switching the location profile, you can connect to the network instantly without reconfiguring your settings when you move from office to home or on the road.

How to deploy Access Connections Profiles

Access Connections is able to import and export location profiles for the wireless adapter. This feature does not export the wireless security configuration and all profile settings. However, you can download and install the optional profile-deployment feature, which enables Access Connections to export wireless security configurations (including static WEP, password, and so on) and all profile settings. Installation Instructions

Notes:

  • There are pre-requisites before installing ThinkVantage Access Connections. Click here for the list of pre-requisites.
  • If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update the software. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the Version Information section.

Manual Install

This section assumes to use Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer.

[Downloading file]

  1. Click once on the underlined file name. Once this is done, some pop-up windows will appear.
  2. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  3. In the window to choose Run or Save, click the Save button.
  4. Choose the folder you would like to download the file to and click the Save button. A different window will appear and the download will begin and complete. Once the download has completed, there may or may not be a message stating that the download completed successfully.

[Extracting file]

  1. Make sure to be logged on with administrative account.
  2. Locate the directory where the file was downloaded.
  3. Locate the file that was downloaded and double-click it.
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  5. In the «Select Destination Location» window, click Next. If you would like to select a different folder, click Browse.
  6. In the «Ready to Install» window, click Install. All the necessary files will be extracted to the folder selected in the step 9.

[Installing files]

  1. Make sure the checkbox next to «Install ….. now» is checked and click Finish.
  2. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete installation and restart the computer.

Finally delete the file saved in Step 4.

Silent Install

Note: This is intended for system administrators only.

  1. Refer to the «Manual Install» section, and download and extract the file.
  2. In the step 11 of the «Installing files» section, uncheck the checkbox next to «Install ….. now», and then click Finish to cancel installation.
  3. At the command line, execute setup.exe with the /s /v»/qn REBOOT=ReallySuppress»
    Example: [Path where the files were extracted]setup /s /v»/qn REBOOT=ReallySuppress»

  1. Start Windows and log on with the administrative account.
  2. Click Start, and select Control Panel.
  3. Make sure View by Category is selected, and click Uninstall a program.
  4. Select ThinkVantage Access Connections, then click Uninstall or Uninstall/Change.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete uninstallation and restart the computer.

Determining Which Version is Installed

  1. Start the ThinkVantage Access Connections. The main screen will be displayed.
  2. In the menu bar, click Help, then click About Access Connections.
    The version will be displayed next to ThinkVantage Access Connections.
