Visual Studio 2017 version 15.9.21 released March 10, 2020:
- Fixed a bug where the .NET Profiling tools couldn’t be installed on non-enterprise versions of Visual Studio 2017 when using an offline installer.
- Fixed C++ compiler bug where a static_cast in a decltype would evaluate incorrectly. To minimize disruptions to existing codebases, in VS2017 this fix takes effect when the (newly added) /d1decltypeIdentityConversion switch is thrown.
- New Spectre mitigation options in C++ compiler: /Qspectre-load & /Qspectre-load-cf for speculative load hardening.

How to get Visual Studio Express 2017 Offline Files from Online Web Installer
- Download VS Express 2017 web installer from
https://www.visualstudio.com/vs/visual-studio-express/ - Ensure correct web installer downloaded, in this case, vs_WDExpress.exe
- Open cmd.exe as administrator and go to the directory where web installer is stored
- Copy and Paste to Run the following command: vs_WDExpress.exe —layout «C:VSExpress2017»
- Allow it to download all of the files it needs, it will be around 4.5 GB of downloading
Note that for the Windows 7 Operating Systems, you may have trouble installing VSExpress2017. The below instructions were used on Windows 7 64 bit to successfully install VS Express 2017!
- Using the Windows File Explorer, Go to «C:VSExpress2017» to view the folders and files within
- Open «certificates» folder and install certificates, do not enter a password just keep clicking next over and over
- You may now choose to restart the machine
- With another Windows File Explorer, Go to «C:Program Files (x86)Windows Kits10» if it exists and then remove the References folder (this is a fix for mandatory Win10SDK needing to be
installed but erroring out on install) - Back in our VSExpress folder, Go into sub-folder under main folder called «Win10SDK_10.0.14393.795,version=10.0.14393.79517». Run sdksetup.exe as administrator.
- Once the above is completed successfully, run vs_setup.exe in the main folder to Allow Visual Studio Express 2017 to be installed.
- Go to «C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft Visual Studio 14.0Common7IDE» and make shortcut on desktop from WDExpress.exe
Now dance and celebrate, you could use 7zip and ultra compress those installer files so you don’t have to download all that again, and you could copy this guide and save it in case you run into these hard to troubleshoot issues.

Some weeks ago we published a rather comprehensive list of all Microsoft Visual Studio Build Numbers, Version IDs and Default Paths from VS6 to VS2017. For those who keep asking where they can download the ISO files of the older builds, we put together this far-from-complete list containing some of the most known official direct download links for the offline installers and/or ISO files, together with service packs and support files.
IMPORTANT: Let’s make it clear, this is not warez or pirate software: what we’re giving here is merely a list of links to some official Microsoft distributions offline installers public links collected from Google, StackOverflow and some MS support sites & forums.
If you want to add a new direct download link or make us aware of a broken one, write it on a comment and we’ll act accordingly adding or deleting the respective URL. It’s worth noting than we will only accept official links from any certified Microsoft-owned website.

Основная масса игр и программ требует установленного Microsoft Visual C++ — без этого пакета приложения просто не запустятся. При этом пользователи будут видеть многочисленные ошибки, так или иначе связанные с MSVC, самая распространённая из которых — runtime library error.
Обычно при установке приложений Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable package устанавливается автоматически, но не исключены и некоторые ошибки, возникающие в процессе инсталляции. В большинстве случаев это связано с использованием контрфактного ПО или с вирусными атаками.
Разновидности пакетов
Существует несколько версий продукта, в том числе и под разные архитектуры. Вы можете скачать Microsoft Visual C бесплатно для Windows XP, 7, 8, 8.1,10 и исправить ошибки самостоятельно. Программная среда не занимает много места на жёстком диске, и установка нескольких версий в одну ОС практикуется довольно часто. Это объясняется тем, что старые игры и программы могут корректно работать только под старой версией продукта, а новые, наоборот, требуют обновлённых библиотек.
С чего начать установку Visual C++?
- Нужно определить какая у Вас разрядность системы: 32 или 64 bit. Если у Вас 64bit, то ставим обе версии 32/64, если у Вас система 32bit — ставим только 32
- Зайдите через панель управления в «Программы и компоненты» и посмотрите, какие уже установлены версии Visual C++
- На моём компьютере (автора статьи), установлены полностью все версии. Что и способствует запуску игр как новых так и старых без ошибок
- Устанавливайте все отсутствующие версии начиная с самой первой — 2005, и доходите до последней — 2017. (Если вы не знаете от какой версии файлы, но на нашем сайте всё указано в описании для каждого файла.)
- Установка много времени не займет, только так, вы загрузите все библиотеки DLL

Внимание: Visual C++ 2015, 2017, 2019, 2022 содержат одинаковые распространяемые файлы.
Но есть нюанс, установка на компьютер 2019 версии может повлиять на игры или программы написанные на ранее созданных версия 2015 и 2017. А вот если установить отдельно пакет Visual C++ 2015, то он не заменит файлы более поздних версий. Visual C++ версий 2013 и более ранние, не относятся к данному пункту, т.к у них свои собственные файлы не зависимые друг от друга
