- Установленный на компьютер Divx Codec Pack.

- Маршрутизатор, точка доступа, свитч (проводной маршрутизатор) или модем

Проводное подключение XBOX 360
Проводное подключение к сети будет более быстрым и надежным способом. Для проводного подключения XBOX 360 к маршрутизатору или модему, можно использовать сетевой кабель.
Вариант подключения 1. Вставьте один конец сетевого кабеля в порт маршрутизатора или свитча, если у вас нет маршрутизатора, вы можете подключить сетевой кабель непосредственно к модему. Другой конец сетевого кабеля подключите к сетевой карте на задней панели консоли. Кабель от провайдера подключите в свитч или маршрутизатор.
Вариант подключения 2. Xbox 360 и компьютер можно подключить к маршрутизатору, а его подключить к модему. Модем, в свою очередь, будет подключите к кабельной розетке или подключите к нему кабель провайдера.
Вариант подключения 3. Либо подключите Xbox 360 к модему, который подключен к кабельной розетке или кабелю провайдера.
Беспроводное подключение XBOX 360
Подключение медиаприставки к беспроводной сети выполняется автоматически, но если в данной сети используются протоколы безопасности, например ключ WEP или пароль WPA, для настройки медиаприставки необходимо вручную ввести следующие данные:
- Сетевое имя (идентификатор SSID)
- Ключ WEP или пароль WPA
Синхронизация Windows Media Center на XBOX 360 и ПК
Включив XBOX 360, зайдите в раздел Параметры системы — Компьютеры — Windows Media Center и выберите Установка. Нажмите Продолжить. В правом окне вам будет показан восьмизначный код. Запишите его и нажмите Далее. Теперь запустите на вашем ПК Windows Media Center (Пуск — Все программы — Windows Media Center). Перейдите в раздел Задачи — Медиаприставка.
Нажмите Далее и впишите ранее записанный вами код, снова нажмите Далее. После того, как ПК выполнит все настройки вы сможете просматривать с Xbox 360 весь расшаренный контент, но для воспроизведения обязательно укажите папки в которых находятся ваши файлы. Например, видео с расширением MKV и других форматов скопируйте в соответствующие библиотеки Windows в раздел Видео — Образцы видео. В Windows Media Center на Xbox 360 ваши файлы MKV будут находится в разделе Видео и изображения. В результате на Xbox 360 будет воспроизводиться видео — AVI, TS, MKV с помощью Windows Media Center.

My PC just died so I installed Windows 7 on one of my macs and really all I use it for it Windows Media Center to stream movies to my XBox 360. I went through the windows 7 install and all was good. When I tried to get my XBox to see the media center, it would not see it. Is this just not compatable?

I tried doing a search and found nothing. The link you gave does not help either. I know how to set up the xbox as an extender. Was working fine when I connected it to a Dell with windows 7. Now that the dell died I moved windows 7 to my iMac with boot camp. Now it will not connect. I try to connect but I am never given a code. Its like the xbox doesnt see the computer. Is there something extra I need to do being that this is on mac hardware? Is it just not compatible?
XBox and Media Center on Boot Camp
One of the main reasons I was held back from fully switching over to Linux was the fact that media streaming is nearly impossible. You have two choices in Windows: either you use file sharing with Windows Media Player, or you can just use the Windows Media Center. But both of these softwares are not for Linux or Mac. Microsoft doesn’t like to make open source software because they believe in making a profit, instead of allowing others to innovate it.
Now you can always run Windows Media Player through Wine, but that’s not really a solution. Nor is running Windows Media Player or Windows Media Center through a virtual machine. Instead, we need a native solution to stream our media! Bad enough that we Linux users have to deal with a lack of Netflix (but I have ways around that one, too).
In this Null Byte we’re going to use a cool piece of software by GeeXboX that can emulate the media streaming capabilities of Windows Media Player for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Step 1 Download the Software
First download the free software from GeeXboX called Ushare, then use the following commands (the things in bold are the terminal commands).
cd ~/Downloads
Move it to a nice place to keep things organized with this command:
mv <ushare> /tmp
Move to your temp directory:
cd /tmp
Extract with:
tar -zxvf <ushare>
Step 2 Compile & Install Ushare
Now we need to compile and install our Ushare package! This package installation is a bit different from usual packages because it uses a custom script at the end.
Change to the newly extracted directory:
cd <ushare>
Now time to configure it for compilation:
./configure
Next, compile the program:
sudo make
This is the part with the funny-business script:
sudo make install-strip
That’s it!
Step 3 Configure Ushare
By default, the media servers for Xbox 360 and PS3 are NOT enabled, so we will need to mess with Ushare’s configuration file.
Open a terminal window and use the following command:
sudo nano /etc/ushare/ushare.conf
Go to the line that says, USHARE_ENABLE_XBOX= and after the = sign, type:
yes
Here is a quick video that I made to show you how to mess with some of the other options and configure which folders you want to share.

I just recently bought an Xbox 360 after having been a PC/PS3 guy since the beginning of time. I just couldn’t help my self with all the sweet deals going on these last few weeks.
After years of using my PS3 pretty much flawlessly as a media center I decided to give it a go on my Xbox so I didn’t have to switch between consoles constantly if I wanted to watch something in my collection. This is when things got a little interesting.
Over the years I’ve used quite a few Media Servers: PS3 Media Server, TVersity, Windows Media Player, PlayOn, Vuze, VLC, etc etc.. and I ended up settling on PS3 Media Server for my PS3 (more recently I switched to an off-shoot of it called Universal Media Server) since it usually played 90% of the stuff I wanted to watch with out too much hassle. So I figured any one of those would probably work great with Xbox 360. Boy was I wrong!
Most of these servers could stream some of my video files to my Xbox, some couldn’t at all. Or they only supported a small amount of formats compared to what I was used to on my PS3. I ended up getting so frustrated with it that I gave up for about a week.
I came back still frustrated about it, but determined to find something that worked. I ended up searching on Wikipedia for a list of UPnP A/V servers and (like always) Wikipedia delivered.
I ended up going through almost every option on that list, testing out multiple file types, subtitle support and stuff like that. Over and over.
Then I ran in to one program called Plex Media Server. And things started looking great. Setup is kinda confusing at first because you do it all through a web interface, but after you get the hang of things the program runs fantastic. I haven’t ran in to a file it couldn’t play yet. Even all of my anime with sub titles works perfectly.
They even have apps on Android/iOS/Windows Phone 7 that let you stream remotely from your server to your phone/tablet, and it also works great! I’ve been using the Android app while at work on break. Only downside is the mobile app costs a few dollars.
In the end I found my solution, and I can now use my Xbox to stream just about anything I want with out having to switch between consoles!
TL;DR: Use Plex Media Server — it works fantastic with my Xbox 360, and MANY other devices!

Hi all,
Please forgive a very very very dumb questions. I’m not really a big tech fella, so I know I ask questions that must have very easy answers. My apologies in advance.
Anyways, I’ve been ripping my dvd collection with handbrake (using the apple universal preset.. mp4). I’d love a way to watch these through my xbox360. Looking around at a few articles online, it appears as though this is possible?
Currently, my movies all reside on an external hard drive connected to my mac mini in another room. Is there a way to network them together? We have no internet at our place (saving some dough), but I’ve got an old router and such laying around if I need to create some kind of ad-hoc network to bring the two together.
I really have no idea if what I want to do is possible… or how to go about watching my ripped movies on my xBox if it is. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

This is correct xbmc can not be installed on the 360.
If I were you I would look into getting a dedicated streamer such as:
1.) Syabas Popbox $130 coming this spring (this also does itunes streaming)
2) Boxee Box $200 coming this spring (this also does hulu)
3) WD TV Live — out now.
Connect 360 only works with certain mp4’s. Most of my mp4’s with not stream properly at all to my 360 even with Connect 360.

I found that most Apple TV encoded Mp4’s (from Handbrake) don’t work but the normal setting does.

If I wanted to use one fo these programs (Connect360 or Rivet), how woudl I network the xbox and the mac together wirelessly without an internet connection? I know jack-crap about wireless networking devices like this, so any direction would be most apprecaited.
As I said, I’ve got a wireless router (I think N) sitting in my closet. I’m assuming I’ll need to get an Xbox wireless dongle (can I use the xbox one, or does it need to be the 360 one) and some how make the two things talk to eachother?

I haven’t tried the other software people are suggesting, but I use Connect360 and think its great. Set up is simple, just install it, by default it streams iPhoto, iTunes, and for video, you can stream movies you have in iTunes as well as selecting a different folder on your mac and share videos from there. I use this feature to stream video from my external drive to the 360.

Why not just use ps3 media server so that you can transcode if necessary?

You might be able to save some coin by just wiring your xbox to the router via ethernet and then streaming wirelessly to the router from your Mac. The xbox wifi adapters are 80 or 100 bucks.

Thanks guys. using the Xbox as a media center would have been the best option for me… but as I don;t haev internet at my house I can’t update the needed files on my xbox with the media update. Microsoft said that the only way to get the update is through microsoft live. Since I cant connect to the internet with the xbox, I’m outta luck. Oh well!

Connect 360 is great, the real problem is the X Box 360. The fans on that thing sound like a 747 taking off. Even in the so called «quiet» mode, the thing is stupid noisy. I can put up with the fan noise while blasting away in Halo, but not so acceptable when watching movies.
A dedicated streamer may be the better way to go, but I always wanted to reduce the number of toys under my TV (and the associated remotes), not increase them.

Another vote for Connect360. Movies Handbraked with Universal setting seem to stream just fine. I stream from my imac to an Airport Express connected to Xbox with an ethernet cable. A little cheaper than Xbox usb dongle, more reliable, and has added functionality (airtunes for one).

Your initial question at the beginning of this thread is exactly what I’ve been trying to figure out for a few days now. Did you ever find out if it’s possible to set up a connection between your xbox-Mac without an internet connection? If so, how??
