This ISO helped me to install Windows XP onto my IBM THinkPad T40 witch had broken hard drive but i replaced it so now it was only matter of searching for Windows XP Professional SP3 with legit key. Once agin, Thanks alot!

I was looking for the missing OS setup disc for the Recovery Console several months after my home computer received a Stop screen error for an unmountable boot volume, since April 25, 2022. It could be cured, but my family’s got other plans such as getting rid of it just because it was completely outdated or no longer supported, and all my saved files are in the Guest account’s folder, especially including the local disk drive itself (C:).
That drive can’t be corrupted, and that’s where I saved my entire font collection along with the original presets in its own directory. I’m still working it out, and I’m not going to give up so easily! …Not quite!

Not your fault but VX is messed up on both our computers
And other people having various complaints of VBOX acting funny. My XP VM is not working anymore after a week of not using it and on my parents computer their Linux Mint VM isn’t working nor getting updates,etc. Virtualbox just doesn’t fetch them.
I purposely kept mine at 6.0.0 as it was working and now suddenly it doesn’t.

I downloaded the iso to a Dell/Windows 10 laptop, created a completely bootable USB (Rufus), and though it was recognized in the BIOS of an Acer Aspire 5315, and after trying every configuration available I am still presented with ‘No bootable device found’, or ‘Media device failure, check cable’. It had already ‘found’ the USB-HDD device, which was 1st in the boot order, and what cable is this message referring to? I’m ready to give up, and no one thus far has been able to offer a working solution. It’s not the software, it’s the Acer..

Recovered my T40 that had been running LXLE and was unable to load backup images that I had created back around 2010.
Had to low level delete, repartition, and format the drive, which my backup images could not do. Tried GPARTED, but that failed to create an NTFS that the recovery could deal with. Back in business, thanks.

I can’t seem to install XP on my EEpc.. It goes through the motions of loading XP setup but then ends up in recovery mode with only the cmd options. I end up typing ‘exit’ and the loop starts again. :s

@Windows DL the ISO you provided has this file sha1 hash: d13c5746895891ecef84f14886687b25e359980a
looking up a list of windows XP file hashes reveals that that file did not have a valid sha1 hash. The file has been modified (I’m not surprised lol).
For anyone else looking for windows XP x64, make sure to look up file hashes for windows XP cause it might be fake.
Lastly, yes. The copy provided (Windows XP Professional SP3 x86) is indeed legitimate. It’s a volume license BTW.

He was referring to running Windows XP AS HOST (VirtualBox installed ON a PC running Windows XP) not as guest. As guest it runs as you mentioned. But since VirtualBox 6 is only instalable in 64bit OS’s (the OS you install VirtualBox on, not the one running in the VM). Guests (the OS’s in the VM’s) can be 32 or 64bits.

@WifeHaver488 using VirtualBox 6.0 or newer will NOT work with 32-bit systems such as Win95 through Vista, like this copy of Win XP Pro, as they stripped out functionality with 32-bit OSes from VirtualBox 6.0 and above.
VirtualBox 5.2.44 is the newest version of VirtualBox with 32-bit OS support as needed for XP virtualisation.

If you are getting error during setup «Setup cannot find End User Licensing agreement, setup cannot continue.»
DO NOT use Rufus, use WinSetupFromUSB. It takes some setting up to get proper. Look up a video on youtube for instructions and it should work great.

I install this windows, under the impression that it is a legitimate Microsoft installation. During the installation following message popped up:
«The application or DLL C:Windowssystem32RDPCFGEX.DLL is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.»
After installation, internet explorer would open only www.google.com and no other sites. No HTTPS site would open. Thinking about reformatting the disk and install someother OS.

READ BEFORE YOU USE
BE CAREFUL WITH THIS ISO! I used this ISO to install the OS on my computer and I had my whole disk WIPPED OUT trying to CREATE A NEW PARTITION on the Setup screen. I don’t believe it is a virus, it might be some sort of bug from this ISO, at least using the RMPrepUSB method. If you want to use this ISO, I recommend testing it on a virtual machine/disk first. If this bug doesn’t happen to you, I recommend using the CD, as for this kind of OS it’s more genuine and safier to install from the CD.

I’ve seen a few reviews saying that the ISO has been messed with because Windows Update doesn’t work. That’s false. Microsoft shut down the Windows Update service for Windows 2000, XP, and Vista on August 3, 2020. This ISO has not been messed with and Windows Update won’t work on any Windows XP installation.

Windows update has been removed, this means you cannot manually install any updates if you needed to do so.
This iso is ok for a «quick fix» to try software but i wouldn’t make it a permanent install as it has been messed with.

Отличия в типах лицензий
— ОЕМ-версии , предназначенные для использования компаниями — сборщиками систем для установки на новые ПК или модернизации/модификации существующих ПК (ОЕМ – original equipment manufacturer или производитель оборудования). Требует активации.
— Коробочные версии (Retail) или FPP ( full packaged product или полностью упакованный продукт) для розничной продажи и последующего использования потребителями. Требует активации.
— VL — Корпоративные лицензии по программам корпоративного лицензирования, предназначенные для организаций, которым требуется не менее 5 лицензий. Не требует активации.
Функциональных отличий в самой системе между этими видами лицензий нет. Отличия только в криптографии ключей продукта и требовании активации.
Отличия редакций Service Pack
= SP1 и SP1a — Отличие в том, что в последнем отсутствует Майкрософтовская машина Java. Также для того, чтобы установить Service Pack 3, необходимо, чтобы у вас был установлен SP1a, в то время как с SP1 вы этого сделать не сможете.
= SP2 и SP2b — Последний содержит обновление KB911164, которое изменяет поведение ActiveX-элементов в браузере Internet Explorer (для того, чтобы активировать любой элемент ActiveX, следует нажать «Щелкните, чтобы активировать и использовать этот элемент управления»). В SP3 это обновление отсутствует. Все SP2-дистрибутивы, лежащие сейчас на MSDN, содержат именно SP2b.

Windows XP — одна из главных прорывных разработок компании Microsoft. На момент своего выхода считалась лучшей операционной системой для ПК.
В принципе работы системы лежали многозадачность и удобство в работе. Создатели полностью сменили дизайн с прошлых версий, добавили плавности линий и прозрачности выводимых меню, текст стал легче к восприятию за счёт технологии ClearType. Новый интерфейс получил название Luna.
Изменилась концепция пользовательского вида: теперь вся внутренняя архитектура стала построена на быстром доступе к подсказкам и помощи. Работа с папками и файлами осуществлялась на базе автоматизированного механизма Webview, который предлагал пользователю все действия с объектами и показывал их свойства.
Кнопка «Пуск» вызывала рабочее меню с наиболее используемыми программами. Остальные установленные программы визуально группировались системой по логическому алгоритму задач. Стал проще переход на новый компьютер: все настройки и документы можно было перенести через мастера переноса. ОС самостоятельно искала новое оборудование и ставила к нему драйвера через технологию Plug&Play.
Разработчики сделали систему, поддерживающую многопользовательский доступ с возможностью сохранения всего сеанса в учётной записи. Эта функция называлась Fast User Switching.
Для удобства пользователей авторы попытались собрать под одну оболочку самые востребованные программы. В XP появилась запись дисков CD и DVD форматов. Система поддерживала распаковку ZIP-архивов через Extraction Wizard. Также были предустановлены проигрыватель Windows Media Player и видеоредактор Movie Maker. ОС имела штатный приёмщик факса.
Появился режим гибернации — компьютер уходил в «спящее» состояние с пониженным потреблением энергии, а после включения пользователь мог продолжить работу с того места, на котором закончил до включения режима.
Для безопасности был интегрирован сетевой экран — Internet Connection Firewall, с целью контроля входящего трафика. Всё устанавливаемое стороннее обеспечение можно было проверить на цифровой сертификат издателя, а также разрешить или ограничить в правах любое ПО.
Система работала гораздо быстрее своих предшественников, как по загрузке, так и по общей производительности, при этом требования к начинке ПК не сильно изменились.
Поддержка и выход обновлений полностью прекратились в 2014 году. ОС имела 2 версии: для дома и бизнеса, серверная платформа была создана отдельно.

простая настройка;
корректная работа с большим количеством старых программ, в том числе с играми.
система устарела и не сможет обеспечить полную производительность современного ПК или ноутбука;
не работает с жёсткими дисками SSD и не видит больше 3 гб оперативной памяти;
не сможет запустить новые программы;
под эту ОС давно не делают драйвера производители ноутбуков и оргтехники;
для неё нет обновлений.
